Eritrean delegation holding talks in Khartoum

Asmara, 2 November 2006 – The Eritrean delegation currently on a working visit in Sudan is holding talks with different Sudanese government officials on bilateral relations and the implementation process of the Sudanese peace agreement.

The delegation that includes Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, and Mr. Abdalla Jabir, Head of Organizational Affairs at the Front, yesterday held discussions with the Sudanese Presidential Assistant, Dr. Nafi’e Ali Nafi’e, on ways of further strengthening relations between the two countries.

The talks also covered the implementation of the East Sudan Peace Agreement.

President leaves for Beijing to attend Africa-China summit conference

Asmara, 2 November 2006 – President Isaias Afwerki tonight left for Beijing to attend the Africa-China summit conference that will be held from November 3 to 5.

The conference taking place in connection with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Africa is being held for the first time. The leaders would hold deliberations on different topics regarding relations of partnership between Africa and the PRC.

President Isaias was seen off at Asmara International Airport by Ministers and other senior government officials.
